Opis
Loosely based on MasterChef... a fun big group activity where you split into teams to make creative food that is then judged.
Ideas for points:
Edibility/taste - 10
Creativity/Use of theme throughout (Under the Sea) - 5
Plating/presentation - 5
And/or give each team an award at the end:
several awards: "Best Use of Ingredients," "Best Tasting," "Best Team Work," and "Most Original."
Prep
have the ingredients sorted into a bag for each team.
Split the kids into 4 groups – have 1 leader per group as an overseer/helper as needed.
host sets the stage and makes it intense. Can go around and interview the teams as they are working.

FOR FOUR TEAMS:
Block of Cheese (split into fourths)
Salami (large one cut into fourths- one for each group)
Crackers (each group gets package of Tuc)
Pretzels (2 bag split into 4 groups)
Marshmallows (1 bag split into 3 groups)
Cookies (large bag split into 3 groups)
Carrot (1 large one per group)
Berries split into 4 groups
4 cucumbers
Icing station that 2 team members can come to and make icing:
Powdered sugar + milk + food coloring (could make icing)Paper plates & napkins
Paper bowls
4 cutting boards
4 knives
4 large spoons
4 tables or maybe benches outside? (Spreading outside may be better.)
Roles
Host - give the directions, give time limits. Can walk around and interview people while they are working
3 Judges - judge/score food submissions - can also wander around and ask questions on what they are doing and why.
4 leaders - 1 with each team:
1 person at icing station
Directions the host will give:
As a team, you must create three courses- appetizer, main dish, and dessert.
Each team will receive the same ingredients. Try to use most of your food.
You will have 1 plate for appetizer, 1 plate for main dish, 1 plate for dessert
The theme is Under the Sea. So try to do something creative that shows this theme in some way. You will get points for this.
You will have 30 minutes to work and then our 3 judges will judge your food on the following 3 things:
You will get points on if it’s:
edible and how it tastes
creativity and use of theme
and points on presentation/plating.
You will have 30 minutes to work. There is a station that 2 team members can go to and make icing, if they want. This might be helpful if you want to create something unique for your dessert- like maybe making a sculpture or object out of your cookies. Otherwise everything will be done at your work station. You each have a leader who can help you as you want, but they are not leading your team. Please be careful and use the cooking utensils correctly- especially the knife.
